NEW! NBS is the new Third Party Administrator (TPA) for Palacios for plan year September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2013.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA): The plan year for Health and Dependent Care Reimbursement accounts is September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2013. Please plan your contributions carefully, as these accounts are Use it or Lose it!
NEW! Dental: MetLIfe is the new DPO dental provider for Palacios ISD. The employee only cost of this plan is employer paid by Palacios ISD. To locate a network provider, go to

NEW! Idenity Theft: Offered Identity Theft Protection through ID Watchdog. Monthly reporting alerts you to any identity threats or notifies you that there has been no change in the last 30 days. Full resolution services are included should your identity ever be compromised while utilizing ID Watchdog’s services. ID Watchdog identity specialists will work on your behalf to resolve issues, saving you time and money. At the end of the open enrollment period, ID Watchdog will contact you via email (if available), or by letter, with instruction on activating your account. The activation process take about two minutes and can be done online or over the phone with ID Watchdog customer service.
Vision: Block Vision is the vision provider for Palacios ISD. The employee only cost of this plan is employer paid by Palacios ISD.To locate a network provider, go to www.blockvision.com.
Short Term Disability (STD): The STD provider is Dearborn National. The STD plan can be elected on a voluntary basis by eligible employees of Palacios ISD. New coverage is subject to a 12/12 pre-existing condition exclusion.
Long Term Disability (LTD): The LTD provider is Dearborn National. The LTD plan is an employer paid benefit for eligible employees of Palacios ISD. The Buy-up STD and LTD can be elected on a voluntary basis by eligible employees of Palacios ISD New coverage is subject to a 3/12 pre-existing condition exclusion.
Group Cancer: The APL group plan is guarantee issue (no health questions required) to eligible employees if you enroll during the annual enrollment window. There is a 12-month pre-existing condition exclusion for all new cancer coverage.
Group Voluntary Term Life and AD&D: The voluntary group life provider is Assurant. Employees can apply for this age-banded plan on themselves up to $500,000 not to exceed 5 times salary and if insuring self, may also apply for up to 50% of employee election on spouse up to $250,000 and children up to $10,000. Accidental Death and Dismemberment can be added to a election as an optional benefit.
5 Star Individual Life: PISD is offering permanent Individual life coverage to age 100 without any benefit reductions. The Family Protection Plan, with Critical Illness coverage, can be purchased for spouse, children and grandchildren without having to purchase any on the employee.
